The Inspires Project was formed by the family and closest friends of Sheldon Mathew Spires who passed away unexpectedly on July 4, 2015. Sheldon was a highly skilled dancer, choreographer, musician , and lyricist who was known and loved for his kindness and genuine compassion for others.
Although Sheldon always tried to remain out of the spotlight when he did something for others, there were several occasions he was seen (since you can’t hide from Mom) giving a scholarship or award that he earned to someone that he saw as having a greater need. He didn’t do this for the recognition, he did it because he truly believed that “there is more happiness in giving than there is in receiving.” (Acts 20:35)
Sheldon’s impact on those around him was greater than any of us expected. Within hours of the news of his death being released in a Facebook post the outpouring of love came back in the thousands. How one kid was remembered by so many others is still mind boggling.
Because of that kid, the inSpires Project was created to remember and carry on his giving spirit. Everything this project does will be motivated by love and a genuine desire to help others.
Sheldon loved, inspired, and believed in people. He left a huge imprint on our hearts, and an even bigger desire to share our hearts with others. We miss him dearly and will remember him with every person we help, until the day comes that we see him again!
